Here are a few of the transportation books we read during storytime and that are on our bookshelf.
I Read Symbols had been around forever. This is a great storytime book and the kids love learning about symbols and trying to guess what each one means.
Roadwork takes you on a journey of how a road is completed. I love the breakdown of each step. This was a new find for me and definitely a great addition to our transportation book collection.
I Love Trucks is a good combination of all the trucks we see in our community.
Airport takes you through the journey of going on a plane. For some kids, this is something they have not experienced and think it is so funny to see the bathroom on the plane. The pictures are clear and simple and the text is easy to understand. Great for all kids.
Freight Train is just a classic. The kids love it and the illustrations are amazing. It is a quick short read and it is fun for both your younger and older kids.
If I Built a Car is a story of a young boy with a great imagination. He tells his dad about the car he is going to build. It has everything from a pool to an instant snack shack and it can go underwater and fly! We have such a fun discussion after reading it. The kids love to tell me what they would put in their cars.
Richard Scarry’s Cars And Trucks and Things That Go is the perfect lap book. Every page has so much fun going on the kids can look at it forever! Everything from a pickle truck to a rainbow bus, to a 5-seater pencil car. The creativity is endless.
Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, of course, we have to add this book to our transportation collection. Any excuse to read it!
