When first starting my preschool I thought a lot about where to invest my $$$. Besides the basics – tables, chairs, shelves, etc.., here are a few of the more pricer things I have never regretted purchasing.
We absolutely LOVE our Sensory table!! This table gets used all the time!! Water, colored rice, water beads, Oobleck, beans, peas, and pom poms are just a few of the items rotating through the sensory table. I have also used it for art, STEM, and planting projects.
One of my first mistakes was purchasing an inexpensive easel, while it got me through the first year, it did not hold up well and was limiting in size and how many paint containers it would comfortably hold. If I was to do it over again I would start off with a bigger and better quality easel and I would have saved money in the long run. We use our easel every single day. I buy our everyday easel paper from Costco. One roll of their butcher paper rolls will last almost the whole school year and I never feel like I have to “conserve” paper! Here are some more ways we use our easel.
I did not purchase Magna-Tiles until the third year of my home preschool. For some reason, I just could not spend the money. As soon as I watched the kids use them I knew they were a great investment and regretted waiting so long to purchase them. They are consistently in use and the kids are so creative and imaginative. We have also used them on our light table and on our magnet board!
I use the HP Office Jet 4650 for all of my color printing and a Brother Laser Printer for all black and white printing. I have used the color printer for almost a year now and I am loving it. The black and white printer I call my workhorse! Knock on wood, neither have given me any problems:) Possibly my favorite purchase had been my laminator! I laminate EVERYTHING before it goes into the classroom.
