Pumpkin Preschool Activities
During October it is always fun to add pumpkins into the classroom! Here are a few of the pumpkin-themed activities on the shelf for the students to use during class time. You can find most of these printables in my Preschool Pumpkin Activities resource.
Pumpkin Fine Motor Activities
The kids love using push pins. I talk about using them safely before I set them out.
Tearing washi tape is such a great fine motor skill and the kids love to be able to use it. Teacher tip!! Don’t be afraid they will just pull all the tape off the roll. Demonstrate how to use it and they will do fine. I have never had an issue!
I switch this activity up for every theme. Just print small pumpkins and have the kids color them. Add a popsicle stick and they have a puppet.
The kids love this activity. I took an old cleaned-out nail polish bottle and added glue, cut a few small orange tissue squares, and added some pumpkin shapes. When it is dry I will cut them out before sending them home.
Pumpkin Scissor Activities
Simple scissor strips and cutting pumpkins are on the shelf for the kids to choose.
This fun pumpkin scissor puzzle is from my Fall Scissor Puzzles resource. I will rotate this printable throughout the season.
Pumpkin Painting
Easy prep! Just print these pumpkin sheets for the kids to paint!
Pumpkin Color Match Activity
Work on matching colors with these fun color pumpkin cards.
Pumpkin Number and Shape Activities
Pumpkin-themed pumpkin shape clip cards are on the shelf. We are big into shapes this time of year and it also works as a fun fine motor activity.
Dot Art markers are a classroom favorite. The math shelf has numbered vines for the kids to add pumpkins!
Pumpkin-themed count and clip cards are on the math shelf.
This pocket chart number game is fun to play at circle or group time. Place the numbers in the pocket chart and hide the spider behind one of the cards. Have the kids guess which number the spider is hiding behind. The kids love it and will want to play over and over. Great for number recognition. I also have this game available during our morning work time and the kids play it with each other. It is a very popular activity!!!
Pumpkin Writing and Sight Word Activities
A few ready-to-print pumpkin-themed tracing activities, including shapes, numbers, and letters are on the shelf for the kids to choose from.
A few of my kids are working on sight words. I hang the sight words around the classroom and give the kids a clipboard. They love hunting around the classroom and writing the words on their paper.
Hope some of these activities inspire you to add a pumpkin theme to your classroom! To make it easier, many of these printables are in my Preschool Pumpkin Activities resource in my TPT store! The only exception is the pumpkin scissor puzzle, that printable in the Fall Scissor Puzzles resource.
