This activity focuses on tracing basic lines and shapes, which are the building blocks of writing. Your students can practice straight lines, curved lines, zigzag lines, and simple shapes.

Print the resource, and add paper, markers, or crayons.

Change up the activity by adding a salt tray. Place a thin layer of colored salt onto a tray. Have your students use their finger, a paintbrush, or a cotton swab to trace the lines in the salt. Gently shake the tray to erase and try again.
